Split Crooked, one of Rockin’ the Bridge’s 2013 headliners.
Rockin’ the Bridge Festival 4 Mental Health by SSCOPE is set for May 24 & 25 at 1466 Arlington Street. The public event, which is both a public awareness effort about mental health recovery and the work SSCOPE does, and a fund raising effort for SSCOPE, is now in it’s fourth year.
This year SSCOPE is raising funds (the Bricks & Mortar for People retail campaign) to expand it’s Thrift Shop approach in other areas of Winnipeg to expand on its work at 1446 Arlington St, and continue providing retail level employment for its members and assist the community with additional recycling and reuse efforts.
SSCOPE provided jobs and income to just under 200 member employees in 2012 and average bi-monthly payrolls average 50-60 program individuals. It’s goal with sufficient community support is to continue to expand it’s supported employment and training programs delivered through social enterprises to at 400 individuals by 2016, with expansion of offices and stores throughout Winnipeg.
