The Assiniboine Credit Union has confirmed sponsorship support for the fourth consecutive year this past week for Winnipeg’s first summer festival of the year.  The event involves great music, food and events over the weekend all for increased awareness of mental health issues, and SSCOPE’s work, with everyone donating their services and time to the cause.

“The Assiniboine Credit Union has been working with us for a number of years and we are pleased they see fit to continue to support our Festival and the concept of bring the community together to enjoy great music and experiences in the interest of reducing the stigma about mental health.  They are one of Winnipeg’s leading corporate and business citizens in our minds, and really walk the talk,” said Bob Rempel, Executive Director of SSCOPE.

This year’s event will be held both at downtown locations and and at 1466 Arlington St., both indoors and outdoors as a Street Festival.

More volunteers and additional performers are needed and welcomed as we grow, said Rempel, and they should contact the Festival’s co-ordinator at 204 987-63000 or email “sscope@sscope.org

More announcements of additional sponsors and performers will be made in the next few weeks, including a possible title sponsor, said Rempel, as more support for mental health discussion and services is evident in the interest we see from businesses and community organizations.

Thank you to our recent contributors

The SSCOPE employee members, staff and Board of Directors are extremely grateful to our many customers and users of our services who stepped forward and contributed to our annual employees’ Christmas lunch and gift.  From cookies, to small gifts, to cheques, to strong evidence to our workers of your support through words and letters, it has been very much appreciated.

In addition we want to acknowledge Parkside Ford and Cam MacIvor who  made a significant contribution to SSCOPE in a timely fashion in January to assist us with unexpected operating expenses that arose.

We are grateful again to the Assininboine Credit Union and Nan Colledge, community involvement manager, for their third year of support to our employee-member support programs and particularly their support of our Cleanup and Recycling programs, including Christmas tree, toilet and leaf recycling job creation and our associated expenses.  We learned of their continuing generosity and support of our initiatives with respect to a better Winnipeg, as we create needed employment and income for those with a mental health disability, in early December 2010.

The Assiniboine Credit Union has also signed on early as a sponsor for our May 28th Rockin’ the Ridge 2 at Vimy Ridge Park, a day of music, fund raising, food and fellowship as we kickoff the summer festival season in Winnipeg.
