Mark the Date: SSCOPE’s AGM will be held on Friday June 21 at the Buchwald Room, Millenium Public Library, Donald and Graham in Winnipeg from 11:45 am;-1:00 pm. Highlights of 2012-13 and discussion about plans for SSCOPE. New Board of Directors slate to be presented and voted on. Member-employees, volunteers, public interested in mental health and SSCOPE’s future encouraged to attend.

We are so grateful and blessed by our performers and volunteers and we thank them all for participating, many year after year.

Our goals are limited but realistic: an opportunity for a better conversation with the community about what SSCOPE is and does and whom it serves, and how living with mental health problems can be improved for the individual and society by a real jobs within a supportive environment.

Melanie Wight MLA for Burrows presented a Private Member’s Statement to celebrate the contributions of SSCOPE Inc., a non-profit organization based in north Winnipeg. It provides employment opportunities and other supports to individuals coping with mental illness. She is pictured with SSCOPE Executive Director Bob Rempel, Minister of Housing and Community Development Kerri Irvin-Ross and Minister of Health Theresa Oswald.

SSCOPE was deeply honoured on Monday May 27th by this Member’s Statement in the Manitoba Legislature by the MLA for Burrows, Melanie Wight.

Ministers of Housing and Health Kerri Irvin-Ross and Theresa Oswald posed later with MLA Wight and Bob Rempel, Executive Director of SSCOPE for the presentation of the Members Statement and privately thanked SSCOPE as well and promised to seek additional ways their two departments can support SSCOPE’s work.  (We reveal it here first!)

Next hurdle in SSCOPE’s coming out branding strategy are uniforms for all members and staff, both inside and outside staff, while on the job as we continue to look for a partner/donour. And then watch for upgrades to signage and appearance at 1466 Arlington St. exterior

We kicked off the Rockin’ the Bridge Festival 2013 for mental health Friday night with a great performance by Mark Stallard and Ryan Janz, SSCOPE’s music ambassadors, and then Sons of Zed came and the place got loud in a very good way. Mercy Mercy closed the opening night with more great new and old stuff.

Shifts start at 7:30 am on Saturday morning with the last shift ending at 10:00 pm Saturday evening. On Friday shifts starts at 6:00 pm and the last shift ends at 10:00 pm
