Is SSCOPE serving a need?-One member’s opinion
“SSCOPE is important as it gives us the opportunity to work. As we work for SSCOPE, we realize that we can work effectively again and be productive in the community. It helps us believe in ourselves as we see our skills put to the test. We have to be on time to work and not miss our scheduled dates of work, which prepares us for another job in the community.
Once we provide to ourselves we can work and how good it feels to work and get paid for our efforts we can either continue to work for SSCOPE or we can move on to other work in the community.
SSCOPE is an excellent place to begin to realize our potential . We realize we can continue to work there or at other places in the community. This keeps us healthier mentally. It is really good for our mental health to be productive members in the Workforce. We need it to continue and grow”
Yvette has been a member at SSCOPE for approximately one year. She, and her support system, are successfully managing her schizophrenia and she is a productive permanent-part time worker at SSCOPE at present.
